Line4 9x8 is a free four in a row strategy game: drop your discs, connect 4 in any direction, and beat the Champion - a trained neural-network AI. Unlike classic connect four, the board is 9 columns by 8 rows, which opens the game up for deeper traps, double threats, and long-term plans. Play it online right here in your desktop browser, no account and no download needed.
Choose who moves first and pick a level from 1 to 10, grouped in four tiers: Easy, Medium, Strong and Max. Levels 1 to 3 play like a human beginner - they miss tactics and make real mistakes, so a new player actually wins. From level 4 the Champion never misses a one-move win or block, and the higher levels add the opening book, a value-guided search and finally a full neural search. Levels 1 to 8 play here in the browser; the two Max levels play in the Line4 9x8 app on Google Play.
Sharpen your play with 20 free solver-verified puzzles: find the only move that forces a win in two, survive the strongest defense, and finish the attack. Your progress is saved in your browser. The Android app carries the full training set - 500 Tactics puzzles, including Win in 3 and Win in 4.
Yes - free in the browser and free on Google Play, with no ads or tracking.
The 9x8 board is wider and taller than the classic 7x6, so openings matter more and double threats are harder to spot. The opponent is a neural network, not a scripted bot.
The browser game is available only on desktop and laptop devices. Phones and tablets, including browser Desktop site modes, can read these pages but cannot load or play the game. On Android, get the app on Google Play - it includes everything the web version has, plus 500 puzzles and the two Max levels.
Ten levels, benchmarked head-to-head on an Elo-style ladder spanning about 1,200 points - from a beginner that genuinely blunders to a 256-simulation neural search. Read more on the Champion AI page.
